Danlar - an Oregon artistArtist Statement:
As an artist, I attempt a direct relevance to life's abstract images. To me art has become a woven creation of organic images that start with an idea, and then transform themselves into forms of mirrored thoughts onto canvas.

Constantly I am fascinated by nature's complexity and awed by its variety and abundance of beauty. I am equally aware of how the veneer of perfection can be, as well as the forces at work behind it. I am driven into producing work that can bring these forces and the delicate fineness to light, without denying its intricate allure.

My intent is to magnify the different depths and levels of matter into my paintings, photographs and sculpture. Wonder is as important to me as life itself, like recapturing the child within, which some of us have lost long ago. Art can often rekindle the imagination each of us may have forgotten, and that is what makes art so valuable. As an artist I am rewarded when I can transport the viewer to a different perspective which allows the motion of colors and images to be shared and understood.

Artist Bio:

Danlar was born in Evanston, Illinois on October 16, 1966 and spent most of his childhood growing up in the farmlands of Dexter, Michigan just outside of Ann Arbor. This was where his experience with nature truly blossomed along with his passion for artwork. Art is a theme that has been woven into all of his life endeavors. As an artist dating back to his teens, he began with poetry, photography, sketching and later painting. Eventually his dreams outgrew the small town in which he lived, as he longed to discover the exotic places he had only explored in books and magazines. Living and working in Egypt opened his eyes to life and the fortunes of living in the United States, that so many take for granted every day. As a Civil Engineer in the Navy and the Air Force where he worked and explored extraordinary places like Sicily, Egypt, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Antarctica and Japan and still travels the world extensively with his wife.

Nature has influenced both his life as well as his art which can be seen in every stroke and speck of color captured in his artwork. His paintings have been described as “Organic Abstract” because of the way he captures some of natures minute structures which is one of the many reasons why his artwork has such a sense of depth. The best way to describe Danlar's unique form of paintings and photography is that they illustrate his free and unorthodox philosophy about life. As he has stated, "Art is just an expression of life’s experiences. Some days your eyes open in a different direction, towards a path of expression we seldom wish to stray from, until we find out just how far it will take us."
